What are Pores and why do they get blocked?

When your hair follicles get blocked, are called pores. They can get blocked for many reasons, including excess oil (sebum), dirt, or bacteria.

Your hair follicles are generally responsible for the proper flow of sebum from the sebaceous glands to the outer skin surface, but sometimes your sebaceous glands may start producing more and more oil, which can’t be handled by the follicles and gets clogged, entrapping the bacteria and dead skin cells inside. The end result of which is acne or pimples, Pimples have many types, but we will be talking specifically about Blackheads and Whiteheads.

Some other reasons of getting large pores on nose are; age, sun exposure, and hormonal changes.

Difference between Blackheads and Whiteheads

Blackheads are small and dark bumps on your face, the black color is because that it’s pores have openings to the skin’s surface which allow the flow of oxygen and oxidation of the debris inside the pores.

Whiteheads small and hard pimples of white or yellowish color, since it’s pores are blocked from both sides, so they acquire the color of the entrapped pus.

Both of these usually appear on the face, but you can expect it on other parts of your body too.

  • Don’t touch your face with unwashed hands to prevent the transfer of bacteria from your hands.
  • Remove your makeup before hitting the bed, use warm water with any good cleanser. After you get rid of the makeup, make sure to wash your face with cool water to close up the skin pores.
  • Do exercise daily, even a 30 minutes’ walk can be good.
  • Keep your hairs away from your face, to prevent the transfer of bacteria and dirt from your hairs.
  • Though studies haven’t found any solid proofs, but according to many specialists, stress can also clog your nose pores. It is certainly the best idea to visit a place you love or talk to your loved ones or release your stress with proper meditation techniques.
  • Avoid using oily makeup skin products, try to use non-comedogenic makeup products to minimize the probability of clogging of pores. These products contain Minerals or water instead of oil.

Bottom Line

Making the pores on nose less visible, or getting rid of blackheads is not that straight forward job. Because the body systems of every human are not same, that’s why every remedy/method won’t work for everyone.

But the key is to stick to just one method at a time and try using it for at least 10 days. If doesn’t show any signs of success, then move on to another one!
