Whitehead, also known as a closed comedo, is a type of acne which is developed under the skin and looks like a white bump on the outer side of the skin. Whiteheads may appear on your face, chin or lips, but commonly occur on the nose.
Whiteheads may be white or yellow in color, but Blackheads are of black color (as the name indicates) due to oxidation of the hair follicles.

What Causes Whiteheads?

Whiteheads are caused by clogging of pores (or hair follicles) due to the dead skin cells and Sebum (or oil). Sebum is produced due to oxidation.
Whiteheads commonly occur on the oily skin and those skins going through a hormonal change like pregnant women and the age of puberty.

Why the Skin Pores gets Clogged?

The hair follicles get blocked because of the excessive amount of oil, bacteria, dust, and sweat, etc.

Should I pop the Whiteheads?

No, because by popping a whitehead, the trapped oil and bacteria gets free and goes deeper in the surrounding area that can cause more Whiteheads or leave a temporary scar.
So, if you are tensed and having thoughts about popping the whiteheads then go for the Rapid Spot Treatment instead, that can treat your whiteheads in as little as 4 hours, which can be done by a dermatologist or any other trained professional.
